🇬🇧 Baxley Wellbeing
Community health portal for NHS collaboration in London, UK
Bexley Wellbeing Partnership is a formal collaboration between NHS (National Health Service), local government authorities in Bexley, and voluntary organizations in London, UK. They needed a digital portal to connect thousands of Bexley residents with various community health services available — from mental health services, physiotherapy, to nutrition and fitness programs.
Their old website was not accessible to residents with disabilities, not mobile-friendly, and difficult to navigate for elderly or those with low digital literacy. As an NHS organization, the website also had to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards required by the UK government for all public digital services.
- Full compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards (mandatory for NHS organizations)
- Intuitive navigation for users of all ages, including the elderly
- Presenting complex health service content in simple language
- Remote communication between the FSL team in Lombok and the client in London, UK
- Timezone coordination and remote design review processes
FSL built a WordPress portal with an accessibility-first approach — every element was tested with a screen reader, color contrast was optimized, and font sizes were adjusted. The navigation structure was designed in layers based on service categories, allowing residents to find the right services in just 2–3 clicks. All text was written in plain English that is easy to understand, in line with NHS public communication standards.
The website successfully passed the WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility audit — a standard that all public institutions in the UK must meet. The client in London expressed satisfaction with the professional remote communication process and the results, which exceeded their expectations, demonstrating that the team in Lombok is capable of delivering international standards.
